GENERAL INFORMATION

If you received a notice of bankruptcy in one of the cases listed below, please be advised that the Clerk’s Office cannot provide legal advice.  The information provided is for informational purposes. It is highly recommended that you obtain legal advice from a qualified bankruptcy attorney.

If you are a creditor (i.e., owed money) or any other party of interest please consult with a qualified bankruptcy attorney and carefully review all information provided in the case notices.

Currently, in most of the cases filed, it appears that there are no assets available to pay creditors. Should it later be determined that assets are available for distribution to creditors, you will receive a subsequent notice from the Clerk’s Office. This notice will provide information on filing a proof of claim and specify the filing deadline. Please review your “Notice of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Case” for information in your specific case.

Creditors and other parties of interest have the right to attend the meeting of creditors, also known as the 341 hearing. During the 341 hearing, the trustee verifies the accuracy of the bankruptcy petition and asks the Debtor questions under oath. Please refer to your “Notice of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Case” for the date and time of the scheduled 341 hearing. It will be conducted via zoom. Specific questions about the 341 hearing should be directed to the Trustee(s) listed below.

Questions about the case can be referred to the Debtors’ attorney or the Bankruptcy Trustee listed on the “Notice of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Case.”  If you do not have an attorney, and have questions about how the bankruptcy process works, you can contact the Self-Help Center at  866-553-0893.  You can also obtain information about the Self-Help Center  here

PROOF OF CLAIM

A Proof of Claim is a written statement and verifying documentation filed by a creditor that describes the reason the debtor owes the creditor money. Proof(s) of claim are to be filed in the bankruptcy case or bankruptcy case(s) against whom the claim is held. An order for joint administration does not change the requirements for filing of a Proof of Claim in each bankruptcy case where a claim is held.
